Ross McEwen
Software Architect
Ross McEwen is a Software Architect in the TR Software Engineering and Technical Services department and our Employee of the Month. As Ross prepares to transition to our Workday implementation effort, he has focused on leaving the unit's core systems stronger, more reliable, and easier for the team to support. Among his recent achievements, Ross restored waitlist and financial aid push notifications to TXST Mobile - functionality that had been offline since our August 2025 app transition. In doing so, he modernized the underlying service, built in automated integration testing, and resolved long-standing reliability issues to ensure a seamless experience for students.
To ensure long-term continuity for internal tools, Ross also spearheaded the documentation of complex business logic for the VA Certification application using Claude Code, configuring developer tooling to seamlessly onboard his team members. Demonstrating his continuous investment in improving university process workflows, Ross has also developed a solution - currently in final testing - to resolve data discrepancies between SAP and Kuali Research. Once released, this fix will eliminate nightly HR feed errors across 20 departments and align 47 outdated department names. Through his technical expertise, proactive problem-solving, and commitment to knowledge sharing, Ross has ensured the teams supporting these solutions are well-equipped for continued success.
